Coronavirus - Parental Update: 17th March 2020
Dear Parents/Carer,
I am sure by now that you will have heard the national Coronavirus updates announced last night.
The best summary of the actions needed are in the NHS website below:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
It is critical that we all play our part and follow the government advice. Please promote this advice, and most importantly, model this at home with your children.
We plan to focus on lessons and ensuring that we are fully prepared for online learning so will cancel all extracurricular clubs from today, including the Year 11 Study Hub and the after school Oxbridge sessions.
However, for tonight only, the learning zone will remain open until 4.15pm to support any children who are not able to get home.
The Work Experience Presentation evening scheduled for Year 9 parents on April 2nd will also no longer take place.
The Academy will remain open for as long as we can, but we expect the number of staff available to work to fall quickly and we may need to close, at least partially, very soon. It would be sensible to make alternative child care arrangements now and also check again that your child has access to the online work detailed in previous emails.
I have been warmed by the positive way in which our staff and students are pulling together to deal with this challenge and am confident that with your support they will continue to do so over the months ahead.
It will certainly be different, but we will respond with character, confidence and creativity, playing our part in pulling our community together.
Kind regards
Mr Nelson
